Sheikh Zayed painted on rowboat to mark UAE National Day
NEW YORK - In commemoration of National Day of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Victor Mooney, 43, of Queens, plans to have the portrait of the late His Highness, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan painted on his boat named "Spirit of Zayed" outside of UAE Mission to the United Nations on December 2nd.
BROOKLYN, NY, November 26, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- "I selected the UAE Mission because this was the place I first learned about Sheikh Zayed in 2002 and received his support for an earlier project", said Mooney.
Mooney's boat is being painted in the colors of the UAE National Flag. The boat was designed by Doug Frolich, Naval Architect and built by Composite Yacht. The boat is embedded with cultural items from some royal family's residences in the Emirates, which Mooney collected on a bike tour in 2007.
Next month, Mooney plans to leave Senegal and row to New York (8,000 miles) to save the planet and stop the spread of AIDS. The second leg will see him leave Djibouti in August 2009 and finish in Abu Dhabi. Mooney urgently needs to raise at least $10,000 by November 28 to pay for project expenses.
