HOUSTON, TX, July 18, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Patricia Whitehouse, Learning and Development Director for the Exploration and Production Procurement Department of BP America, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of business development and supply chain management.

Patricia A. Whitehouse has an impressive 21 years of professional experience in the field of adult learning across a range of industries. As the Learning and Development Director for the Exploration and Production Procurement Department of BP America, Inc., she specializes in directing a global workforce learning and development strategy to accelerate individual and organizational performance in procurement/supply chain management. Her numerous responsibilities include, but are not limited to, identifying and prioritizing learning needs, designing and sourcing innovative and relevant training solutions, managing entry-level and leadership development programs to assure a pipeline of high-caliber talent, overseeing blended learning programs, establishing scholarship awards, implementing 360° feedback, and measuring performance processes.

Initially, an interest in behavioral science and teaching prompted Ms. Whitehouse to become involved in her profession. To date, the highlight of her career was directing a successful global learning program in support of a merger integration process that resulted in $20 million in savings. She attributes her success to thinking and acting strategically, collaborating through strong professional relationships, and being willing to explore new opportunities.

Prior to joining BP America, Inc., Ms. Whitehouse served as a senior director of Enterprise Learning Management Systems and Global Performance Solutions at Merck & Co., Inc. Additionally, she was a learning and organizational effectiveness executive with Bank of America, the director of global learning and development and a human resources information system manager with GlaxoSmithKline and project manager with Cyntergy Corporation. Throughout her career, Ms. Whitehouse has placed emphasis on employee advocacy, collaboration and professionalism.

Ms. Whitehouse holds a bachelor of business administration from the University of Notre Dame. Honored as the Professional of the Year in Business Development and Supply Chain Management by Cambridge Who's Who in 2008, she lectures at various national level conferences. Ms. Whitehouse is a member of the American Society for Training and Development and the International Society for Performance Improvement. Ms. Whitehouse is anticipated to become a senior executive at BP America, Inc. within the next five years.
