PHOENIX, AZ, February 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Not only does SKY Renewable Energy create opportunities for their clients to reduce their carbon footprint with solar energy systems, residential audits and other services, but they also ensure that they employ sustainable or green building construction practices by recycling job site materials.

One of the materials we recycle from our job sites is the cardboard from all of the packaging of the panels and equipment," said SKY Field Operations Sean Gates. "SKY Renewable Energy has recycled about 2,200 lbs of cardboard and packaging recyclables since the program began late last year."

SKY Renewable Energy "knows what they throw" and increases efficiency by knowing what and how much material ends up in their job-site dumpster. In the construction industry, reuse and recycling of construction and/or demolition materials is one component of a larger holistic practice called sustainable or green building construction. This efficient use of resources means the reducing, reusing, and recycling of most if not all materials that remain after a construction or renovation project.

"We also recycle copper wiring -- collecting the clippings and other pieces until we can turn it in," said Gates who also oversees the recycling of wooden pallets.

Routinely checking out a construction job-site waste stream is one way of evaluating efficient use of materials. "At SKY, we keep an inventory of pallets to work with but when we have a large job, we can then take the extras and trade those in as well," said Gates.
