ISTANBUL, TURKEY, November 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Larry Casarta, Vice President of Exploration for TransAtlantic Petroleum, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in up-stream energy sector.
Known by his peers for his expertise in managing and directing multidisciplinary teams to find and produce hydrocarbons economically worldwide, Mr. Casarta was recently named Vice President of Exploration for TransAtlantic Petroleum, a worldwide oil and gas exploration and production company. Also skilled in new venture acquisitions and divestitures, operational exploration & production, prospect generation and evaluation, reserve estimates, and risk & economic analysis, he has received multiple awards for finding oil and gas.
He has 30 years of worldwide experience exploring for and producing hydrocarbons in the U.S. Rocky Mountain Region, Canada, Alaska, and Southeast Asia including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Philippines and the NW Shelf of Australia. He has identified opportunities and crafted proposals for new business development, directed large turnaround projects and led cross-functional teams responsible for exploration, appraisal and development of hydrocarbons. Additionally, he has developed exploration programs, and strategic business plans and acquisition strategies that have lead to the discovery of more than 4 BBOE, recoverable.
Mr. Casarta is a proven hydrocarbon finder, having discovered hydrocarbons in geologically simple and complex areas around the world. Technically, he has done basin analysis, regional studies, prospect generation, fracture analysis, source and reservoir rock analysis, generation and migration of hydrocarbons studies, seal formation and seismic interpretation of potential traps, stratigraphic and structural.
Mr. Casarta has been the SVP / Manager / Technical Coordinator for more than 15 years of several major projects involving multidisciplinary teams. The largest exploration project had annual budgets of over $250MM. He has lead, planned, organized and implemented technical and operational meetings with other companies and with governments, domestic and foreign as well as negotiated contracts with foreign governments, oil companies and oil field vendors. Lastly, he has directed/managed field development, wildcat exploration and New Ventures (including acquisitions and divestitures) projects.
Mr. Casarta holds a Master's Degree in Geology, Geophysics and Rock Mechanics from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Southern Illinois University. He attributes his success to hard work, attention to detail and creativity.
