Mariana Iftinca Recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Engineering
Mariana Iftinca has been named a VIP of the Year for 2011-2012

CALGARY, AB, CANADA, December 9, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mariana Iftinca, New Ventures Engineer in the Subsurface department of TAQA North, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in engineering.

In September 2011, Ms. Iftinca joined the New Ventures team at TAQA North, a leading oil and gas exploration company. Her role entails overseeing exploitation engineering in the New Ventures group, working with unconventional resources, and assessing a resource's potential to product hydrocarbon. She also handles risk evaluations and presents findings to corporate leaders to obtain funding. Ms. Iftinca attributes her success to her perseverance and ambition, the fact that she enjoys change and challenges.

Prior to working for TAQA North, Ms. Iftinca worked for 13 years in the pharmaceutical industry and earned three invention patents in Romania. She has also worked for Amoco Romania as an executive assistant, P&GA representative, and human resources professional. She worked for Nestle Canada for a short time in marketing, and spent six years with Amoco/BP Canada in various engineering roles. She spent an additional eight years with the Devon Energy Corporation. After relocating to Canada, she utilized her hard work ethic and experience to become an accomplished oil and gas engineer in a new country.

In 1983, Ms. Iftinca earned a master's degree in chemical engineering with a specialty in organic chemistry from the Technical University of Bucharest (accreditation letter from University of Toronto). She has completed further studies in management and accounting at The Open University (UK). Ms. Iftinca is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and American Chemical Society. In the years to come, she plans to continue doing technical work and learning within the field.
